Derek Scott, One Design Manager
For young sailors and competitors on the high performance circuit, One Design manager Derek Scott is not only a familiar face, but he is somebody to look up to. Sailing for Naval Point Club in Lyttleton, Derek represented New Zealand at the Optimist Worlds in 1994 and at the Youth Worlds in the Laser II in 1996. He won both the P-Class Tanner and Tauranga Cups in 1995 – a dual achievement that even today is rare – won the 470 National Champs and the Hobie 16 National Champs in 2006, and placed fifth at the 420 Worlds in Takapuna in 2008. He also won the 3.7 National Championships in 2008 and 2009.
Derek grew up in Christchurch, and moved to Auckland in 1997. He has worked for North Sails since 1999.
